I spent two months volunteering in the capital of Turkey, Ankara.
Our tasks were to teach English at schools, lead English Speaking Club, discover Ankara, do social media posts and pack food and hygiene supplies for families whose kids have leukemia.
When I came to Turkey, I did not have big goals, my goal was just to experience… And I did! Living in a new country, far away from home and family, learning about other cultures (which are very different from mine), learning new language, discovering new places, meeting all those delightful people… It was an extraordinary experience, which is very important for me.
And even though I was the one who was supposed to impact and motivate other people, in the end they were the ones who did that to me. Especially kids.
I am very much missing Turkish sweets, other volunteers and all people who I have met during this experience."
