It was one more successful cooperation between NGO Lasnaidee and NGO Youth Club Active. With the financial support by British Council this time we decided to manage Human Library under open sky.
It happened in Laagna garden (address Võru 11) on 31st of August 2019. Event was organised in three languages Estonian, Russian and English.
We had 15 "Books" who were ready to break the stereotypes. This time books were not only from LAsnamäe district, but from whole Tallinn. We made three rounds for 30 minutes. We also included lunch break, which helped to Books, and readers had more non-formal time together.
All in all, the power and amazing influence of this concept was confirmed yet once again, and we are happy to keep working on next events.
And, of course, many thanks to Youth Club Active organisation for technical support, refreshments and the space and partners Lasnaidee for the amazing cooperation.

Elav Raamatukogu ei ole tavaline raamatukogu, selle ürituse raames muutuvad inimesed Raamatuteks. Ürituse eesmärk on tõsta avalikkuse teadlikkust erinevatest sotsiaalsetest gruppidest, keda tihti diskrimineeritakse või kellest tehakse ebaõigeid eelarvamusi.
Raamatute teemad võivad olla väga erinevad: religioossed või ideoloogilised vaated, ebatavalised ametid ja hobid, erilised vajadused, seksuaalsed ja etnilised vähemused ja palju muud. Elavad Raamatud on valmis rääkida oma loost vabas, ausas ja positiivses dialoogis Lugejatega.

Human Library is not an ordinary library: in frames of this event, it’s people who play the role of Books. The aim of this event is to raise awareness of the population about a variety of vulnerable social groups, often discriminated or prejudices against.
The Books can be on different topics: religious or ideological views, uncommon hobbies or professions, special needs, sexual and ethnic minorities, and many more. Human Books are ready to share their story with Readers (audience) in an open, honest and positive way.
